In 2025, US imperialism unleashed death and destruction worldwide. From the genocide in Gaza to escalating threats against Venezuela, the US war machine pressed forward through bombs, economic warfare, proxy forces, coups, and repression – along with a brutal war on migrants at home carried out by the ICE Gestapo. This recap offers only a snapshot of the horrors inflicted.

Anti-imperialist resistance in the belly of the beast did not succeed this year in slowing or stopping the most powerful empire on earth. But this is not a reason to retreat. Let us be motivated by the task ahead of us and draw on the courage of those who resisted, from the people of Gaza under siege to the hunger strikers in the UK. Let this be a time to reflect and recommit ourselves to the struggle against US imperialism and to stand with the people of the world!

We choose the world!

    • US Ushers in Trump for his Second Presidential Term
After an embarrassing loss from the Democratic Party in the 2024 Presidential Election, where the Biden-Harris administration—with Tim Walz later becoming the undemocratically appointed Vice Presidential candidate—essentially rolled out the red carpet for the current Trump-Vance administration, replacing one president in mental decline with another.

    • Hottest Year on Record Announced, Again
The 2024 Annual Climate Summary released by CS3, which reports on significant climate-change related findings, shared stark statistics gathered over the past year. The data reveals the continuous rise of the global temperature, which leads to the increase in natural disasters across the Earth; those who face the brunt of the disastrous results are those in the nations most affected by US imperialism.

    • US Begins Designating Drug Cartels and Gangs as “Foreign Terrorist Organizations”
The US has decided to include both Drug Cartels and Gangs from around the world, most from Latin America. Among the 25 additions are both Ansar Allah, or the Houthis, and a German anti-fascist group, Hammerbande. Conveniently, the US military and the CIA did not make the list, ignoring the role they play in drug trafficking and propping up violent paramilitary groups.

    • Israel Withdraws from the UN Human Rights Council
Shocker. How Israel had even managed to become a part of the entity in the first place is confounding, but then again, the same can be said about the US, given its domestic and international human rights violations. Earlier this year, the US had also decided to withdraw from the UN HRC—for the second time, the first during Trump’s first term—citing the “treatment” of Israel by the council.

    • Israel Cuts Off Gaza’s Electricity and Blocks Humanitarian Aid
“Ceasefire” means absolutely nothing to the US-Israel war machine. The Gaza Ceasefire was announced in January, and just two days after, the Israeli Occupation Forces brazenly continued their extermination campaign against Palestinians. Three months into the year, Israel decided to cut off all electricity and any aid for Gaza, while the IOF continued their airstrikes and sniping anyone and everyone that crosses their path.

    • 1,800 Syrian Alawites Murdered
As many as 1,800 Alawites were murdered in March, by both Assad loyalists and the new US-backed government forces. The Assad family were ethnic Alawites, and Alawites were often drafted into the Syrian security forces. For this, Alawites, regarded as traitors by the new government and scapegoated by the old, are being slaughtered by both sides of the civil war in Syria.

    • Massive power outage hits Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico doesn’t lose power because of storms; it loses power because US imperialism sold the grid to profiteers and called it “recovery.” Reminder! The empire doesn’t run on electricity; it runs on extraction and exploitation.

    • US strike on Yemen kills nearly 80 people
The US drops bombs across Yemen to protect its strategic interests and continues to pretend that civilian casualties weren’t part of the plan.

    • The Gaza “Humanitarian” Foundation begins operations in Gaza
Marketed as a way to help Gazans, the US-Israeli-backed Gaza “Humanitarian” Foundation turned food distribution sites into death traps. More than 2,000 Palestinians were murdered in mass shootings at aid sites, deliberately targeted by the IDF as people gathered simply to eat, one of the countless examples of how the US-Israel war machine weaponized food and starvation. Nothing says “humanitarian” like funneling starving people into fenced-off zones and opening fire, but alas, that is US Imperialism.

    • Israel Bombs Syria, Again
Hardly the first, or indeed the last time Israel bombed Syria in 2025, but this time was interesting – this time, Israel claimed to be protecting the Druze, a frequently persecuted religious minority, in the only way Israel knows how: by bombing the ever-loving shit out of them.

    • Israel Expels 2,500 Palestinians from the West Bank
For decades, the West Bank has been subjected to a slow drip, drip, drip of Israeli ethnic cleansing. But, as in Gaza, Israel has accelerated its designs on the West Bank. Once again, Israel demonstrates its constancy – in opposing the very existence of Palestinians.

    • Israel bombs Qatar
In an attempt to assassinate the leadership of Hamas, Israel struck the Qatari capital of Doha in the midst of ceasefire negotiations, killing one Qatari security official. Even a favourable peace agreement is unacceptable to the US-Israeli death machine – only the extermination of Gaza can sate their thirst for blood.

    • Israel Launches Yet Another Assault on Gaza City
In a desperate attempt to murder as many Palestinians as possible before the US-brokered ceasefire took effect, Israel launched a full scale assault on Gaza City, sending tanks to crush starving civilians.

    • Israel Boards the Global Sumud Flotilla
The Global Sumud Flotilla, which bravely sought to break the blockade of Gaza, was boarded by Israel in international waters. Israel arrested hundreds of activists for the hideous crime of attempting to feed starving people. The detainees were transferred to Israel’s infamous Ktzi’ot Prison, where many of them were tortured for as many as eight days.

    • US Aircraft Carrier Deployed to Caribbean
The USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier, along with its accompanying strike group, were deployed to the Caribbean. This was and is a massive escalation – a single US Navy carrier strike group is capable of levelling an entire country, as happened when the US bombed Libya in 2011.

    • Dick Cheney Escapes Justice, By Dying
Dick Cheney was the vice president under George W. Bush from 2000 – 2008, and the chief architect of the plan for the “New American Century”, intended to cement the United States’ place as the most powerful – and violent – empire in human history. In accordance with said plan, Cheney spearheaded the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan, resulting in the mass destruction of those countries, the deaths of over a million Iraqis and tens of thousands of Afghans, the destabilization of the entirety of West Asia, a mass refugee crisis, and the list goes on. Bye-bye, Dick! You won’t be missed.
