Detained Immigrant Families Protest Inside ICE Detention Center in Texas
On Saturday January 24th, dozens of immigrant families protested inside ICE’s South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley demanding the release of detained children.
Liam Ramos, the 5 year old detained in Minnesota last week wearing a spiderman backpack and a blue hat with bunny ears along with his father, is one of the children being kept in Dilley.
These brave families protesting inside the dungeons of this cruel empire should inspire us all to fight back harder within the belly of the beast.

Israel Kills Three Journalists in Gaza
On January 21st, Israel killed three journalists in an air strike, raising the total of journalist fatalities in Gaza to 260 since October 2023.
Journalists Mohammad Salah Qishta, Abdul Raouf Samir Shaat (a freelance journalist for AFP), and Anas Ghanem were documenting a camp for displaced people when the vehicle they were in was struck.
The Israeli military was quick to claim responsibility for the attack, sharing in their statement that they targeted a “drone affiliated with Hamas,” with no further explanation as to what that means exactly. The IOF added that “due to the threat that the drone posed to the troops, the (Israeli military) precisely struck the suspects who activated the drone.”
In actuality, the journalists were taking images within the camp, via drone, of aid distribution by the Egyptian Relief Committee. The vehicle itself was clearly marked with the Committee’s logo, who was behind the humanitarian mission.
The camp that was struck is located near the Netzarim Corridor—a corridor that runs through central Gaza, created just over a year ago, providing another area for the trigger-happy Occupation Forces to “monitor” (read: kill) Palestinians.
Gaza has been dubbed the most dangerous place to be a journalist, with Reporters Without Borders (RSF) calling the Israeli military “the worst enemy of journalists” after releasing their annual report, which quantifies the deadly reality of reporting in Palestine.
Restrictions remain on the entrance of foreign journalists into Gaza; this fact reinforces the RSF statement that “the Israeli military has mounted a global propaganda campaign to spread baseless accusations portraying Palestinian journalists as terrorists.”

In Unsealed Documents, DHS Cited Pro-Palestinian Activism for Targeted Deportations
Documents unsealed by a federal judge last Thursday reveal that DHS targeted international students who criticized Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza with visa revocations, detention, and deportation.
“Given the potential that a court may consider his actions inextricably tied to speech protected under the First Amendment, it is likely that courts will scrutinize the basis for this determination,” read one memo about Mohsen Mahdawi, who spent five weeks in detention for leading pro-Palestine protests at Columbia University.
Key to building the current campaign of terror against immigrants and protestors, foreign students were among the first to be targeted with detention and threatened with deportation by the Trump administration. Their hope is to scare people stepping out of line in the belly of the beast by making examples of them.

Trump’s Board of Terror
On January 22, Trump announced the charter of his new Board of Peace, an international conflict-resolution body that will be able to “do pretty much whatever we want to do.” Ahead of this signing ceremony at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Trump invited leaders of over 50 nations to join the board, but ultimately only 19, notably representatives from Argentina, Belarus, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE were in attendance. Currently, 25 countries have signed onto the board, including Israeli genocidaire Netanyahu.
The BoP was first floated last year as part of the Trump-brokered ceasefire deal in Gaza as an entity to oversee the reconstruction of post-war Gaza. But the formal 11-page charter is much more ambitious. Trump has appointed himself as the chairman-for-life of an international Board of Terror that grants the US free reign to intervene in whatever region it pleases to “restore dependable and lawful governance” in accordance with US imperialist interests. As he succinctly put its: “The world is a region.” Gaza is their first experiment: to the US, the ceasefire deal is no more than the first step of a massive private real estate venture “renovating” Gaza by cleansing it of its indigenous population. At the signing ceremony, Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner presented a series of slides boasting futuristic high-rises, advanced energy infrastructure, and beautiful empty roads.
At the top of the Board of Terror sits the executive panel, which includes, among other of the world’s most decorated war criminals, Jared Kushner, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair. However, Trump holds sole jurisdiction and sweeping veto power over interpretation of the charter, executive board actions, and membership. Nations may pay a $1 billion fee for a permanent seat on the board.
Curiously, Trump invited Russia and China to the board. Putin has yet to respond but has teased paying the exorbitant fee using Russian assets frozen in the US. On Thursday, the PRC’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun declined the offer, stating China practices true multilateralism and “firmly upholds the UN-centered international system.” Though several European countries were once on board with the US’s plan to broker “peace” in Gaza, key US allies like the UK, France, Norway, and Sweden have now changed their tune and rejected Trumps’ invitation, citing concerns of the Board of Terror replacing the UN. While the UN’s huge scale of operations and near-universal membership is hard to replace, the more likely threat is that the new board will usurp the UN’s political authority and exploit its global reach to carry out the imperatives of US empire.
