9 Protesters Convicted in Prairieland Trial

Following the 12-day trial against Prairieland 19 protesters—protesters targeted and arrested after a noise demonstration outside of Texas ICE detention center—9 of the protesters have been formally convicted of federal charges while state cases are still pending. The charges range from providing material support for terrorism to conspiracy to conceal documents.

A teacher in Dallas had his internet history invasively surveilled, was subsequently arrested, and slapped with a $1 million bail. All for allegedly removing someone from a Signal group chat.

In a press release, the prosecution also pointed to “the defendants dressed in “black bloc”—dark clothing with head and face coverings that concealed their identities” as evidence to support their claims. Maybe they’re projecting, given masked ICE agents run rampant on the streets to hide their own identities to get away with murder.

After the protest on July 4 of last year, ICE protesters and people with any relation to them were investigated under the the guise of “hunting down Antifa terrorists” for the alleged, but loosely corroborated, discharging of a fire arm that “injured” a police officer.

In reality, the government is using every tool at their disposal to target and attack those taking a stand against ICE repression—from legal pathways to cold blooded murder in broad daylight.

Trump Wants the “Honor of Taking Cuba” After Power Grid Collapses from US Oil Blockade

While the US and Cuba engage in negotiations to ‘find solutions to the bilateral differences’ between the countries according to Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, Trump has followed up his call for a “friendly takeover” of Cuba by saying,

“You know, all my life I’ve been hearing about United States and Cuba, when will the United States having the honor of taking Cuba? That’s a big honor,” Trump said in remarks from the Oval Office. “Taking Cuba in some form, yeah, taking Cuba — I mean, whether I free it, take it, I think I can do anything I want with it.”

Following the kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei by US forces, this threat against another sovereign state cannot be taken lightly. For weeks, Cuba has been facing an energy crisis due to the blockade of oil tankers heading to the island by the US. Taking advantage of a national crisis to target a virtually defenseless people is the name of the game for US Imperialism in 2026.

US Facilities & Military Bases Come Under Attack in the Middle East

On Saturday, March 14th, a drone struck the United States embassy in Baghdad, destroying the embassy’s air defense and satellite communications capabilities. The drone was launched by Kataib Hezbollah, a Shia militia affiliated with an umbrella group called Islamic Resistance in Iraq, in retaliation against a series of airstrikes against the group by unknown aircraft on March 12th. The strike by Kataib Hezbollah is the latest in a series of attacks on US diplomatic facilities across the Middle East by predominantly Shia armed groups. Baghdad, Kuwait City, Doha, Dubai, even Riyadh have been targeted. Combine this with the persistent drone and missile strikes from Iran itself, and the truth becomes apparent: the United States and Israel have kicked a hornet’s nest.

The sophistication of the attack was impressive; reports indicate that the drone swooped in low and slow, and scored a direct hit on the embassy’s C-RAM air defense battery; eyewitnesses report that there was no defensive fire from the embassy, nor were there any warning sirens, indicating that the air defense battery was out of commission, either due to a lack of maintenance, or, possibly, the application of some sort of electronic warfare (IE jamming) by Kataib Hezbollah. There was no follow up attack to exploit the embassy’s lack of air defense – but perhaps Kataib Hezbollah felt that they had made their point.

These sorts of strikes are a key element in Iran’s war plan. Strikes on US diplomatic facilities, military bases (especially the RADAR, communications, and air defense systems stationed in those bases), and infrastructure belonging to US allies in the Persian Gulf region are intended to degrade US warfighting capabilities, deplete reserves of extremely expensive interceptor missiles, and, most of all, demonstrate to the Arab states that the US cannot be relied on to protect them.

Perhaps this strategy will work; the Iranian Prime Minister, Mahmoud Pezeshkian has outlined three demands to end the war: monetary reparations, non-aggression guarantees, and a recognition of Iran’s “legitimate rights”. Contrast this clarity with the Trump administration’s constant shifting of goal posts, insistence that the United States has secured absolute victory while its bases and embassies across the region burn and while the strait of Hormuz remains closed – which may very well lead to a global economic crisis. It is very clear that the United States is not winning this war, and we are glad to see it.

To be clear: we do not advocate the replacement of one empire with another. Iran very much is a repressive, reactionary regime which slaughtered thousands of its own people in January for protesting the government over the outrageous economic situation. But there is no state, past or present, which parallels the United States in terms of sheer brutality. The United States has interfered in the Middle East for decades, launching invasions and coups, and US troops are permanently stationed all throughout the region – this is a state of affairs which cannot, which must not continue, and we do relish the irony that this state of affairs may come to an end due to the United States’ own hubris.

New Immigration Guidelines Target Trans People

Last week, the Department of State finalized new guidelines for immigration to the United States that requires all visa-seekers to register their sex assigned at birth. This rule applies even if documentation from their country of origin has been updated to correctly identify their gender. The final rule’s text states, “The marker reflected in the “sex” field on any visa application, including the entry form, should match the applicant’s biological sex at birth, even if that differs from the sex listed on the applicant’s foreign passport or other identifying documentation”.

The Trump administration has shown itself eager to use lawfare against immigrants, deporting people simply for allegedly having issues with their documentation. Now, this ruling creates an easily accessible database of transgender immigrants whose sex as reported in their visa application does not match the sex listed on their legal documentation. Furthermore, it creates an obvious double bind where immigrants can be targeted for supposedly fraudulent visa applications if they report their lived sex instead of their sex assigned at birth, but can also be accused of having fraudulent documentation if they follow the rule and thus have a discrepancy between their passport or birth certificate and their visa application.
