The spring of ’24 brought waves of defiant anti-imperialist student protest to every corner of the country. As the death toll mounted in Gaza and mass starvation loomed, students built encampments, organized sit-ins and walk outs, and confronted the genocidal ties within their institution. Their demands varied but ultimately aimed for an end the destruction and devastation in Palestine.

The fall of ’24 brought an equal magnitude of deafening repression from lawmakers, local police, and disciplinary boards that has left these student movements toothless or in some cases non-existent. Limiting free speech, firing supportive professors, suspending and evicting students, disbanding student orgs, and even conducting armed police raids are all strategies that have been embraced by university administration. Whether the goal of these administrations is to secure donations or to save their careers, the outcome of their tactics is clear – the protection of US imperialism and a disregard for their students.

While Trump’s threat to deport protestors became a fear-mongering battering ram for Harris brats©, it was democrats in New York, California, and Illinois who most effectively squashed the brief student rebellions. The genocide has not ended. The protests shouldn’t have either. Students, alumni, and anyone who opposes these attacks have a responsibility to take a stand – against the repression, against the genocide, and against US empire.
It is right to rebel! Stop the genocide! Free Palestine!
