While the Trump administration is targeting students and other visa holders—kidnapping them and threatening deportation for standing with Palestine—the district attorney for Santa Clara County, Jeff Rosen, a Democrat and self-described “nationally recognized leader in criminal justice reform,” is standing shoulder to shoulder with Trump in the nationwide, bipartisan crackdown on protests. The pig Rosen announced on April 10th that he was bringing down felony charges on 12 demonstrators, who are accused of occupying the office of the president of Stanford last June as a part of the ongoing student movement and encampments for Gaza. 

These charges were brought almost 10 months after the action took place, and after students had already gone through the campus disciplinary process. These felony charges brought by this pig Rosen are ludicrous acts of grandstanding in defense of genocide, that gleefully line up with the repression of both the Trump government and the Biden one before him. From the crackdown on student protesters last spring, the brutality and mass arrest against anti-genocide protesters at the August DNC, to the banning of Samidoun, Genocide Joe and the blue state mayors and governors gleefully set the tone and handed off the baton to Trump and Marco Rubio, who are now wielding it. 

Rosen is a pig, but he isn’t a fool. He knows full well that he didn’t have to bring these charges at all, much less felony charges. He knows that these felony charges will provide additional ammunition to the McCarthyist crackdown on campus free expression and righteous protests against the US-Israel genocide, and to the Trump/Rubio campaign against students and visa holders. He just doesn’t care. From Mahmoud Khalil, to these students at Stanford, it’s imperative that people not be afraid, and get the backs of those under threat from this bipartisan crackdown. Fuck pig Rosen. It’s right to rebel against genocide.
