Since early September, Donald Trump’s ICE-Gestapo has been unleashing a reign of terror on Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. Dubbed “Operation Midway Blitz” and personally headed by SS-wannabe Gregory Bovino, this operation has been a mix of media sensationalism and full on fascist kidnapping of everyday Latino residents, including the murder of Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez.

Nearly every Democratic party politician in Chicago and beyond has broadcast their rhetorical opposition to these raids, speaking at rallies and tweeting out their opposition.

In actual reality, nearly all of them are aiding and abetting the mass deportation machine, out of their ultimate loyalty the imperialist system that causes mass migration in the first place.

Pritzker has been one of Trump’s loudest opponents, positioning himself for a future presidential run, even boldly declaring to Trump that, “If you come for my people you come through me.” In reality, of course, Pritzker’s people—the people he actually has say over—have spent the last weeks actively defending the ICE kidnappers.

After weeks of the ICE-Gestapo brutalizing protesters in front of the Broadview ICE black site, the Illinois State Police (ISP) took over policing that facility. Instead of investigating the happenings in the Broadview site—off limits to lawyers, journalists, religious officials, and even Senators, the ISP has taken over policing the facility, taking their turn to brutalize and arrest protests, sometimes working side by side with ICE, and making a mockery of the claims that Illinois is a “sanctuary state”.

Another vocal progressive, Johnson has gone even further than Pritzker in rhetorically denouncing the ICE-Gestapo and actually doing nothing. We are miffed that people still look to Johnson as some kind of radical warrior, because he talks like a madlib made out of NGO buzz words (including his recent toothless calls for a “general strike”), while assiduously avoiding taking any material action to disrupt the mass-deportation machine.

In spite of Chicago’s sanctuary city laws, CPD has, on multiple occasions, actively aided ICE in avoiding the righteous fury of the masses.

Despite Johnson’s proclamations that ICE can’t use the property of the city of Chicago, they are actively spitting in his face by staging in parks, most recently in the Steelworkers Park that is managed by the Chicago Parks Department. Johnson and his handpicked police chief have in fact insisted that they want more communication with ICE, and that the only effort they will extend to defend the people of Chicago from the ICE-Gestapo is through filing lawsuits, not using the actual power of the state.

Brandon: arrest ICE or shut the fuck up.

Thompson has taken advantage of the large protests in Broadview to burnish her image as hip-hop loving mayor of a hardscrabble suburb standing up for her people. She has correctly blamed the chaos of the protests on the ICE-Gestapo, including the multiple occasions that her own police officers have been tear gassed.

But instead of ordering her own cops to stop defending the ICE black site, or exploring avenues of eminent domain to shut down the facility, she has chosen to constantly work to restrict the rights of protesters, implementing “free-speech zones” and curfews on when people are allowed to protest. When ISP took over policing outside of the black site, it was her own police standing side by side with them and other suburban police.

Tom Dart loves to take media victory laps for his penny-ante reforms inside the countries largest jail: letting a few inmates play chess or have therapy dogs. The reality inside is that Cook County Jail is a hell on earth, with rotten food, abusive guards, and dozens of mysterious deaths under Dart’s leadership. In spite of his progressive varnish, and claims that the Sheriff’s department will abide by all laws (including Illinois sanctuary TRUST act), Cook County Sheriffs have been side by side with the ISP at the Broadview black site, cracking down on protesters, instead of investigating the blatantly illegal ICE-Gestapo kidnapping.
