The media is reporting that there is now a ceasefire between Israel and the resistance organization Hezzbollah in Lebanon. This agreement represents a defeat for US-Israel aggression in Lebanon, which has led a trail of destruction in its wake.
On November 22 alone, IOF bombs dropped on a hospital in Baalbek killed 12 medical workers and the hospital director, Dr. Ali Rakan Allam, while an Israeli airstrike on an ambulance killed 2 paramedics in Qanoun Ras al-Ain.
In the past week, Israeli airstrikes have targeted residential buildings in densely populated neighborhoods of Beirut, leaving dozens dead, including striking an 8-story building in the middle of the night.
The slaughter of people, the destruction of critical infrastructure, the bombing of civilian homes, and the displacements of thousands have become the daily reality for the people of Lebanon, under the collective punishment of the US-Israel war machine, found guilty for existing a region the US imperialists are intent on dominating, and for their continued support for Palestinian resistance. Since the US-Israel aggression against Lebanon began, more than 3,754 people have been killed, and the IOF has targeted journalists, medical workers, and UN peacekeepers with impunity.
Even as the ceasefire was being prepared, the IOF launched a series of “fire belt” attacks in Beirut’s Dahiya district, bombing multiple sites.
A ceasefire being declared in Lebanon marks another military defeat for the US-Israeli war machine, reminiscent of the 2006 failed invasion of Lebanon, and a continued legacy of death and destruction across the region. Don’t forgive. Don’t forget.
