Statement on the election of two-faced Zohran Mamdani for Mayor of NYC

Zohran Mamdani’s campaign gripped many people living in NYC with hopes that the city could change for the better. He spoke to important issues that affect everyday people, like affordability, and stood out from the crowd as a young guy calling out the Democratic Party’s bullshit.

But now we’re calling out Zohran’s bullshit, because if being a member of the Democratic Socialists of America isn’t enough to make you puke in your mouth, his grift will make you hurl.*

Mamdani is a two-faced liar who has sacrificed his supposed principles to get ahead in the election. He’s wavered on his support for Palestine and has cozied up to the NYPD. Why? Because being in power means pledging allegiance to US Imperialism.

*The DSA serves to funnel people who are angry at the injustices of this system back into the Democratic Party. Just look at the rise of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her pathetic endorsement of Genocide Joe and Killer Kamala for president for an example of the DSA’s best work.

Mamdani on NYPD

Before: “Defund the police.” “We have to make clear that when the boot of the NYPD is on your neck, it’s been laced by the IDF.”

After: “I’ll apologize to police officers right here… because of the fact that I’m looking to work with these officers. And I know that these officers, these men and women who serve in the NYPD, they put their lives on the line every single day.”

  • Backs police commissioner Jessica Tisch
  • Attorney General Letitia James campaigned for him

Mamdani on Palestine

Before: Built his career on being “pro-Palestine”

  • Founded Bowdoin’s SJP, campaigned for an academic boycott of Israel at a time when talking about Palestine was extremely taboo.
  • Sang “my love to the Holy Land Five. You better look ’em up,” – in his 2017 rap song, “Salam”.
  • Quoted in 2023, before October 7th saying, “When you grow up as someone, especially in the Third World, you have a very different understanding of the Palestinian struggle… it’s as if one of the most natural things I could wear around my body was a keffiyeh” and “you are told by well-meaning individuals that the more you want to accomplish, the less you should speak about Palestine, and for me what made it central to my identity is that it is a glaring contradiction”.
  • Stated that “as mayor, New York City would arrest Benjamin Netanyahu”.

After: Sacrificed his principles for power, cozying up to zionists

These days, Mamdani is speaking less about Palestine. When he does, he parrots zionist talking points.

  • The first sentence of his statement on 10/7/25 read, “Two years ago today, Hamas carried out a horrific war crime” and does not use the word Palestine or Palestinian once.
  • After coming under fire for refusing to condemn the phrase “Globalize the Intifada”, he clarified that, “I believe Israel has a right to exist and it has a right to exist also with equal rights for all”, an embarrassing stipulation that legitimizes the state of Israel.
  • There is not a single thing he said he would do about the genocide in Gaza or the occupation of Palestine, other than the claim that the city would “arrest Netanyahu.” Not even a push for the city to adopt Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS).

Ironically, capitulating to zionists hasn’t stopped Zohran’s opponents from attacking him. In his political career Palestine was only ever a rhetorical stepping stone. Zohran has become exactly the type of politician he once criticized.

Mamdani on US Imperialism in Latin America

“I want to be clear on where I stand. I believe both Nicolas Maduro and Miguel Diaz-Canel are dictators. Their administrations have stifled free and fair elections, jailed political opponents, and suppressed the free and fair press.”

While the US has launched a bombing campaign targeting boats in the Caribbean, Mamdani is giving cover for US intervention in Latin America.

When pressed on whether he supports US intervention, Zohran has deflected and said, “my focus is squarely on the needs of New Yorkers, not foreign policy.”

This is what “Democratic Socialism” has to offer: those who live in the belly of the beast are promised “affordability” and better conditions while the rest of the world keeps paying the price.

What is Zohran going to do the next time rebellious students stage protests that take over college campuses?

What is he going to do when the NYPD murder people in cold blood?

And what is he actually going to do when Netanyahu comes to NYC?

The answer is, he’s going to do the same damn thing every other mayor has done. He’s going to send in the cops to repress protests, he’s going to back the blue when they murder innocent people, and he’s going to denounce Netanyahu without arresting him.

Zohran, prove us wrong!

But if you’re someone who’s had enough of the circus, who knows that the things that actually matter are never up for a vote, and that politicians will always lie just to get ahead,
