Killer ICE Agent Jonathan Ross Returns to Work Without Repercussions

Killer ICE agent Jonathan Ross, who shot and killed Nicole Renee Good in cold blood during Operation Metro Surge, is back on duty. Ross has so far evaded any repercussions for his murderous action, with formal investigations stalled.

It seems Ross is no longer in Minneapolis, having quietly been moved to an undisclosed location, and has been assigned to “administrative work” behind the scenes, a move often seen with cases of police brutality where killer cops are relegated to “desk jobs” to sweep the stories under the rug.

While a FBI investigation was initially underway, it has been stalled, most likely indefinitely and intentionally. Whistleblowers have alleged that the federal investigation has been deliberately shut down.

“At least six senior Justice Department officials quit over the mishandling of the case, as well as an FBI official in Minneapolis who was forced to end an investigation into Ross.”

The ICE Office of Professional Responsibility claims it is also investigating killer agent Ross and the murder of Good, but senior officials state otherwise; apparently ICE cannot begin their internal investigation until the FBI investigation wraps up, which at the moment doesn’t seem like a possibility in the near future, if at all.

U.S. Uses Ceasefire to Bypass Congress as Iran War Continues

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told Congress on April 30 that the ceasefire with Iran “pauses” the 60-day deadline requiring the White House to seek congressional authorization for the war. The claim would allow the Trump administration to continue military operations without approval, despite the War Powers Act requiring Congress to authorize conflicts beyond that timeframe.

The administration has framed the war as effectively over while maintaining a naval blockade, military presence, and the ability to resume strikes at any time. Lawmakers raised concerns that US forces remain active despite the ceasefire, while the White House has avoided committing to seeking authorization from Congress.

The ceasefire is being used not to end the war, but to continue it without oversight, maintaining a naval blockade, intercepting ships, and tightening sanctions to choke Iran’s economy while sidestepping even the limited constraints of U.S. law.

U.S. Ramps Up Extrajudicial Attacks on Boats in the Caribbean

While the world’s eyes are upon the tense standoff between the United States and Iran, the United States continues to destroy alleged drug smuggling vessels in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific. The latest documented boat strike was on Sunday, April 26th, and killed three people. The U.S. military has failed to reveal how they know these people were smuggling drugs. Narcotics smuggling is a criminal offense, not an act of military aggression; the people killed in these attacks are civilians all, and killing them is a gross violation of bourgeois law. The rules of war forbid modern militaries from engaging targets which have not been clearly identified as a threat, and none of the people who have been killed in the strikes so far were even remotely a threat to the might of the US military. And, if some or all of the people killed are assumed to be smuggling drugs, they would be entitled to a fair trial in a court of law. In other words, the boat strikes are extrajudicial killings.

So, what is the U.S. ruling class doing about this incredible violation of their laws? Nothing. Several congresspeople and military officers have politely objected, but no serious effort to put a stop to the attacks on civilian vessels in the Caribbean and Pacific has materialized.

But there’s a deeper issue at play: the United States is singularly responsible for the Latin American drug trade. Since 1823, Latin America has been subject to the Monroe Doctrine, a U.S. policy which declares that the whole of the Western Hemisphere is its exclusive imperial fiefdom. The U.S. has intervened, either through coups, sanctions, or overt military intervention at least 41 times over the past 250 years. Nations across Latin America have been despoiled by U.S. imperialism, leaving the people of those nations destitute. Further, U.S. agencies like the CIA and, ironically, the Drug Enforcement Agency intentionally fostered the drug trade across the region in the 1980s, to further destabilize Latin America, and to secure a supply of crack cocaine into the inner cities of the United States, so as to create an epidemic of drug addiction in Black communities.

The U.S. empire created the problem of the drug trade, and now that it’s become politically inconvenient, its solution is to extrajudicially murder people.

U.S. Indicts Mexican Officials for Alleged Drug Trafficking

The U.S. indicted ten Mexican officials of collaborating with the Chapitos faction of the Sinaloa Cartel, claiming they manipulated elections, protected traffickers, and profited from drug shipments to the U.S. Among the accused are Rubén Rocha Moya, Governor of the Mexican State Sinaloa, and Juan de Dios Gámez Mendívil, the Mayor of Culiacán, the state capital of Sinaloa.

Rocha and Mendívil deny these charges. While both have taken temporary leaves from their offices, Rocha calls his leave an effort to aid Mexico’s own investigation. Mexico’s Attorney General says there isn’t enough evidence to justify his extradition.

President Claudia Sheinbaum maintains that her government won’t shield criminals but condemned U.S. interference and has refused to arrest Rocha. Sheinbaum affirms critics claims that this could be a political maneuver by the US to pressure Mexican authorities, bolster the U.S.’s war-on-drugs, and enforce moral authority and control over Mexico’s internal affairs.
