Israelis flock to Peru and the Rise of Israel’s Relations in Latin America
US interest to control Latin America have been ramping up, from the rise of the “Donroe Doctrine” to the kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores, and now Israel is following suit.
Peruvians in the capital city of Cusco and the Sacred Valley have been amplifying concerns of the negative influence of Israelis traveling to the Latin American nation for touristic and long-term purposes, such as buying up land in Indigenous territory and the rise of Israeli businesses, a matter that has only been growing in popularity for years now, Pisac, Peru standing as an example.
This issue is not just a matter of Israeli touristic nuisance in one Latin American capital, but a glimpse into the rise of Israel’s influence and political integration with nations run by opportunistic far-right leaders whose interests align with those of the US imperialist machine, such as El Salvador’s Bukele and Argentina’s Milei.
In 2020, the US and several Arab countries established the Abraham Accords, which normalized diplomatic relations with Israel. The agreements laid out in the Abraham Accords are in the best interest of the security of Israel within West Asia.
Recently, Argentina’s staunch Zionist President Milei and Israel’s genocidal Prime Minister Netanyahu led the creation of the Isaac Accords, essentially an offshoot of the Abraham Accords in Latin America, intending to “[strengthen] cooperation between Argentina, Israel and like-minded partners in the Western Hemisphere, [and] the descendants of Isaac and nations of the Judeo-Christian tradition.”
The formal announcement for an Argentinian spokesperson continues, stating that the Accords are “in defense of freedom and democracy, and in the fight against terrorism, antisemitism, and drug trafficking.”
The inclusion of drug trafficking as a target is especially relevant to US involvement in Latin America, given that bombs have been dropped on fisherman off the coast of Venezuela and Colombia alleging they were what the government dubs “narco-traffickers.” The US has used the precedent of the dangers of “narco-traffickers” to justify the war crimes they have recently been carrying out for foreign intervention of sovereign nations.

British Court of Appeals Affirms Ruling Designating Palestine Action a Terrorist Organization
Palestine Action, a direct-action group known for disrupting weapons manufacturing locations supplying arms to the ongoing genocide in Palestine, was designated a terrorist organization by British courts last July. Nearly a year from the anniversary of its proscription as a terrorist organization, the court of appeals ruled in agreement with the lower court, supporting the designation against Palestine Action.
The court cited Palestine Action’s property damage in their decision, claiming it extended beyond free speech protections. British police alleged Palestine Action cost genocidal weapon manufacturers “millions of pounds in property damage.”
As ever, in actions taken against the Imperial Core, the court acknowledged the ruling was “controversial,“ continuing to underplay and enable the active genocide Palestine Action continues to oppose.

Far-Right Abelardo de la Espriella Wins Colombian Election
This Sunday, Abelardo de la Espriella, the far-right candidate in Colombia’s presidential election won by a margin of only 250,000 votes. Espriella, who is a millionaire and lawyer, touts a similar right-wing, anti-establishment position that gained Trump so much popularity here in the US, and continues to be a defining characteristic in the broader rightwards shift across Latin America.
Espriella’s political campaign has centered primarily around bolstering Colombia’s domestic military and police presence against armed groups. He has promised to construct ten new mega-prisons, modeled after El Salvador’s CECOT and kill criminals “like rats and cockroaches.” Espriella is explicit that all of this will take place hand-in-hand with the US, saying outright: “To solve Colombia’s problems, we need to build a very close alliance with the US, which is not only our main trading partner but also our most important strategic ally in the fight against organized crime.” Many Colombians are rightfully suspicious of US intervention given the increasing magnitude of military operations against vessels in the Caribbean and outright regime change in neighboring Venezuela.
The US-backed militarism that Espriella espouses is the same one that has led to the death and displacement of millions throughout the continent. On a regional scale, this is just another piece of the growing web of right-wing governments throughout Latin America in the pocket of US imperialism.

Albania’s ‘Flamingo Revolution’ Grows Beyond a Fight for Environmental Protections
What started as a protest in Albania to protect the island of Sazan and the peninsula of Zvernec from being destroyed by Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump has turned into an international movement for the resignation of the Albanian government and end to imperialism, oligarchic control, and corruption.
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has been a strong supporter of the $4 billion investment from Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of President Trump. Rama dismisses all environmental objections despite never having an environmental impact study completed and blames the uprising on foreign manipulation.
The EU parliament has issued a new resolution that calls for the appeal of the 2024 amendment that removed the environmental protections on the land sought to be developed by Kushner and calls for an end to any new construction.
This popular uprising has been dubbed the ‘Flamingo Revolution’ after protestors were found to be using flamingo props to show their support for the flamingos, and the over 200 other bird species and 70 endangered species, that would lose their habitat if the construction of Kushner’s resort continued. This is the largest protest movement in Albania in the last 30 years and is not likely to stop even though the resort construction has been stopped, because the people of Albania see that the larger issue at hand is the structure of their government. The question is whether or not the movement will generate further political unity and form the leadership needed for a real revolution.
